PGPD Detectives Arrest Suspect in Fatal Stabbing in Oxon Hill

Homicide Unit detectives charged a man in connection with a fatal stabbing on Saturday. The suspect is 33-year-old Jorge Luis-Lara of no fixed address. He’s charged with killing 41-year-old Yovani Lopez of no fixed address.

On May 16th, at approximately 12:00 am, patrol officers were called to the 6300 block of Livingston Road in Oxon Hill for the report of a stabbing. They located the victim outside suffering from a stab wound. He died at a hospital a short time later.

The preliminary investigation revealed
the victim was in close proximity to the suspect as the suspect argued with a third man. During that argument, the suspect pulled out a knife and the victim was stabbed.

Luis-Lara is charged with second degree murder and first degree assault. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
