PGPD Detectives Arrest Suspect in Suitland Fatal Shooting

Marcus Wardlaw

Homicide Unit detectives identified and arrested a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting early Sunday morning in Suitland. The suspect is 23-year-old Marcus Wardlaw of the 1500 block of Ruston Avenue in Capitol Heights. The victim is 33-year-old Kelvin Alston of Suitland.

On June 28th, at approximately 3:05 am, patrol officers responded to the 2300 block of Brooks Drive for a shooting. When they arrived, officers located the victim inside of a car suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on
the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect and the victim were known to each other. The fatal shooting stemmed from an on-going dispute.

Wardlaw is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. He’s in the custody of the Department of Corrections. Wardlaw has admitted his involvement in the crime.
