PGPD Detectives Arrest Suspect in Suitland Homicide

Homicide Unit detectives arrested and charged a suspect in connection with a recent homicide in Suitland. The suspect is 26-year-old Kevin Smith of the 2400 block of Ewing Street in Suitland. He is charged with fatally stabbing 34-year-old Dwayne Coleman of Suitland.

On April 17th, at approximately 11:30 pm, officers responded to the 3400 block of Bonita Street for a reported stabbing. Responding officers located the victim inside of a residence suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect and the victim were acquaintances. Smith stabbed and killed Coleman during an argument. Smith is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. He is in custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
