Homicide Unit detectives arrested a husband and wife in connection with a fatal shooting in Adelphi on Tuesday. The suspects are 24-year-old Edgar Garcia Constancia of the 14000 block of Cove Lane in Rockville and 27-year-old Norma Reyes Carbajal, also of the 14000 block of Cove Lane. They’re charged with the murder of 20-year-old Merlin Ramirez-Lara of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring.

On April 9th, at approximately 6:15 am, patrol officers responded to the 8600 block of 20th Avenue for a welfare check. The victim was discovered outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation reveals the victim had been in a romantic relationship with Reyes Carbajal. She agreed to meet the victim at the shooting location where Garcia Constancia was waiting. He shot and killed the victim.
