PGPD Detectives Charge Suspect For 2021 Fatal Shooting in Lewisdale

The Prince George’s County Police Department arrested and charged a suspect for a fatal shooting in July of 2021 in Lewisdale. The suspect is 37-year-old Reginald Howell Jr of Silver Spring. He’s charged with the murder of 44-year-old Angel Olivares of Capitol Heights.



On July 31, 2021, at approximately 3:20 am, patrol officers responded to the 6700 block of 22nd Place. Once on scene, officers located a van that had crashed. Olivares was found in the driver’s seat suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Two additional victims had also been shot while in the van. Those victims survived their injuries.



The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect and victims were not known to each other. The motive remains under investigation. Howell is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
