PGPD Detectives Charge Suspect in Domestic-Related Homicide

Rene Pop Chub


Homicide Unit detectives charged a man in connection with the killing of his brother. The suspect is 32-year-old Rene Pop Chub of Capitol Heights. The victim is 45-year-old Crisantos Pop Chub of Capitol Heights.

On August 16, 2024, at approximately 11:30 pm, officers responded to the 500 block of Shady Glen Drive for the report of a fight. Once on scene, they located the victim unconscious, and another victim, an adult male, outside lying on the ground. They were both taken to the hospital. Mr. Crisantos Pop Chub died of his injuries on August 30, 2024.

The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect pushed the victim during an argument causing the victim to fall and hit his head. The second victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Pop Chub is charged with second-degree murder and additional charges. The suspect is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
