Homicide Unit detectives charged a suspect in connection to Sunday night’s homicide in the unincorporated section of Capitol Heights. The suspect is 60-year-old Robert Arthur Carter of no fixed address. He is charged in connection with the murder of 60-year-old Ronan Breaux of District Heights.



On October 9, 2022, at approximately 10:20 pm, officers responded to the 5300 block of Sheriff Road for the report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in a gas station parking lot. Once on scene, they discovered Breaux suffering from trauma. He was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later.



The preliminary investigation revealed Carter and the victim arrived together at the gas station. Carter intentionally struck the victim with his vehicle during a dispute. Carter remained on the scene and was taken into custody by responding officers.



He is charged with first degree murder and is in the custody of Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
