The Homicide Unit charged a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting in Temple Hills Sunday afternoon. The suspect is 18-year-old Izayah Matthews of Temple Hills. He’s accused of murdering 43-year-old Antonio Bell of Oxon Hill.
On August 18, 2024, at approximately 3:30 pm, officers responded to the 3300 block of Huntley Square Drive. Officers located Bell in a parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene. A second man was also located with a gunshot wound. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Following the shooting, Matthews fled the scene. The PGPD’s Fugitive Unit located the suspect late Sunday night and took him into custody. The preliminary investigation suggests Matthews shot the victim during a dispute.
Matthews is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
