Homicide Unit detectives identified and arrested two suspects in connection with a recent fatal shooting in Cheverly. The suspects are 18-year-old Javelle McClary of the 700 block of Brandywine Street in Southeast,Washington DC, and 25-year-old Davonte Brothers of the 2300 block of 25th Street in Southeast, Washington DC. They are charged with fatally shooting 38-year-old Damaris Lindsey of Washington DC.
On March 21st, at approximately 12:20 pm, patrol officers were called to the area of NB I-295 near the exit for EB Route 50 for a reported shooting. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim in the driver’s seat of a van that had collided with a guardrail. Lindsey was suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later.
Through various investigative techniques, McClary and Brothers were identified as the suspects. The preliminary investigation revealed the suspects targeted the victim and this was not a random crime. Both suspects are charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. McClary is in the custody of the Department of Corrections. A commissioner ordered him held on a no-bond status. Brothers is in custody in Washington DC awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
