PGPD Detectives Investigate Fatal Shooting in City of Glenarden

Detectives with our Homicide Unit are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Wednesday. The victim is 27-year-old Nelson Standifer of Upper Marlboro. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random crime.

On September 18th, at approximately 12:15 pm, officers from the Glenarden Police Department, Seat Pleasant Police Department and the Prince George’s County Police Department were called to the area of Johnson Avenue and Martin Luther King Highway for a report of a shooting. Once in the area, they discovered Standifer in a parking lot of an apartment complex with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene. A second male shooting victim was discovered at a nearby convenience store. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Detectives are looking to identify a suspect(s) and a motive.

The Prince George's County Police Department investigates all homicides within the City of Glenarden.
