PGPD Detectives Investigate Fatal Shooting in Town of Bladensburg

Detectives with the Homicide Unit are investigating a fatal shooting in the town of Bladensburg Sunday evening. The victim is 43-year-old Duane Ellis of Bladensburg. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

On September 4, 2022, at approximately 9:15 pm, patrol officers with the Bladensburg Police Department were called to the 4200 block of 58th Avenue for a report of a shooting. They discovered Ellis in an apartment building stairwell suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.


Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and a motive. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random incident.

The Prince George’s County Police Department investigates all homicides in the town of Bladensburg.
