PGPD Detectives Investigate Fatal Shooting

Detectives with our Homicide Unit are investigating a fatal shooting on Thursday in the unincorporated section of District Heights. The victim is 36-year-old David Lorenzo Smith of Washington, DC. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

On March 17, 2022, at approximately 4:55 pm, patrol officers were called to the 6400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue for a shooting. Once on scene, they discovered Smith unresponsive in a parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.



Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and a motive.
