The Robbery Unit is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in multiple robberies and thefts at convenience stores. She is currently linked to seven robberies and thefts throughout the County and similar crimes in Anne Arundel and Fairfax Counties. A cash reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in these cases.
The preliminary investigation reveals that the suspect most recently committed a robbery on April 30, 2024, at a store in the 4700 block of Crain Highway. During the robbery, a uniformed Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Deputy entered the store and realized that a robbery was in progress. The deputy attempted to arrest the suspect however, the suspect was able to flee from the store and attempt to get into the passenger side of an awaiting vehicle. The deputy followed and a struggle ensued at the passenger side of the vehicle. As the deputy attempted to gain control of the suspect, the driver placed the vehicle into gear and accelerated at a high rate of speed, dragging the deputy for a short distance in the parking lot. The deputy sustained minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. No other citizens or store personnel have been injured during these incidents.
The driver has been identified as Andrew Franklin of Washington, DC. Franklin was arrested on May 1, 2024, and has been charged with robbery, assault, and related charges. He remains in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
