Detectives with the Homicide Unit today released surveillance video of a fatal shooting that took place in October. Investigators are asking the community to watch the video and provide any information that could help solve the murder of 44-year-old Kevin Jason Paul of Silver Spring. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
On October 19, 2023, at approximately 10:05 pm, officers responded to the 3400 block of 52nd Avenue in the unincorporated section of Hyattsville. The officers located Paul outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
On the video, the suspect(s) is seen driving down 52nd Avenue in a dark-colored sedan, believed to be a newer-model Toyota Corolla. The driver turns around, turns off the car’s headlights and then parks. A suspect exits the car and fires multiple rounds, striking the victim, before fleeing the area.
