Diaper Free

Throwing the deuces
I have had a kid in diapers for the last 7 years and I am finally free!!! My baby is finally completely potty-trained. He had been dry at night for months and would wet during the day more often than use the potty. Search on here (before I was a user) and used Sockgirls advice to pay him. Started out a quarter, then went to a nickel. But I was still having the occassional "I'm too busy to go inside to use the potty" or "I'm too busy watching TV to use the potty" problem where he'd wet/soil himself once or twice a day. Finally got fed up and told him to knock it off. For the last two weeks (maybe alittle less) he has been clean and dry all day and night. This week-end, I felt comfortable enough to throw out the Diaper Genie, Pull-ups, wipes, and diaper bag. Man, did it feel strange to go to the store with him this week-end without my diaper bag.
He turns four next week and I was really beginning to worry that he wouldn't get trained by August when school started. I guess I can finally relax! Last night I switched him out of his training pants (the ones that are several layers thick) to regular undies. He wanted no part of them until I brought out the race car ones. It was all systems go after that.

Congrats!

My twins are almost 100% pottytrained as well... Just wearing pull ups at night now :yahoo:

I found it very strange that he was dry during the night but would still wet during the day. You would think it would be the other way around. My oldest just started using the potty one day and was done with diapers. No warning whatsoever. Congrats with your soon to come freedom! It feels great (and strange at the same time!)

I amstruggling. nothing is working with my son. He does good for a while then we get a set back. We have moved alot in the past 1 1/2 so i think hes just not comfortable. Hopefully he will soon be done with training pants. They cost to much! I 'm happy for you.

Congrats! I have 2 in diapers right now. My 2 1/2 year old son, who's indian name is Boy-Who-Won't-Poop, is proving impossible to train. He had some constipation problems a year ago and is still terrified of pooping. He refuses to admit he has to poop or pee, and when led to the bathroom he flips out in a big way. I have to give him little doses of Miralax twice daily or by day 5 with no poop it's rock solid and enema time. The drama surrounding the potty in our house is awful. I can't wait till this aspect of childrearing is over!

Do you give him plain water or really watered down juice. My Little brother and sister are like that. They are 3 and 4. They have poop nuggets. When they use to visit me on weekends thats all i would give them is water or watery juice.

They get water and watered down juice. I've been to the doc many times with this kid, Miralax until recently was perscripion only and was perscribed by the pediatrician. Fruit, veg, fiber suppliments, we've tried them all. He is terrified of pooping and will hold it now matter what. He poops only about every 3 days even with the miralax! The terrible part is now my 15 month old daugher is pooping rock hard baby biscuits too!

I bought a pack of Pull Ups awhile ago and then got so fed up with him wetting himself/pooping himself for no reason that I hid them and told him, no more. When cleaning out the "diaper" stuff, I found them and snuck them into the garage so my son wouldn't see that we did still have some.
Just keep at it. My son went back and forth between going on the potty and going in his pants. He was stubborn about it because he said he didn't want to be a big boy. He wanted to stay a baby. He also knew that he needed to be potty-trained to go to pre-school which he also didn't want. Now he wants to go to school because he'll get to ride a bus for field trips and walk to the library so it was an incentive for him to finally "man up" and stop all unneccessary accidents.
Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who has a kid at potty-training stage so I don't know what I will do with the unopenned pack of Pull Ups.

Going #2 on the potty was a big issue with mine too. He was fine going #1 because he did it standing up. He was afraid he'd fall into the water if he sat to go #2. Seeing how he does it now, I understand. He lifts the seat like going #1 and sits. I've told him that the seat doesn't need to be up to go poop but he insists it does. I really don't care how he does it as long as he does it. He is fine with going #2 now. Just needs to learn that the used toilet paper gets flushed, not put on the sink!
