Kamala Harris has yet another crazy idea to add to the list among Democratic presidential hopefuls -

Extending the school hours by three hours. Schools would go from 8am - to 6pm.

You know, I can't think that she has thought this through very well. And I am surprised that, for someone whose campaign is TANKING,
she throws a Hail Mary that really is more like Hail Pile of Dung.

I mean, the idea is that the school basically becomes a day care for your kid for another three hours, to make life easier
and cheaper for parents. But I guarantee schools and teachers aren't going to like it at all, and unless it's voluntary - a lot of parents won't either.

Well, that follows incrementally that schools should be pushing the agenda (as boards are being filled with wacky folks) that believe Children should be brainwashed that communism/socialism is better.. wasn’t there some candidate who suggested parents drop off their kids at age 6 and retrieve them after college?

I just chalked it up to - did you really think this through?
Admittedly - growing up, MY school days were longer. The bus picked me up at 4. I remember that because I remember the teacher asking us - with our little handmade paper clocks - which time was our favorite, and I said "Four o'clock".

But school wasn't LONGER. We just have more recess. Two fifteen minute breaks morning and afternoon and a whole hour at lunch.
Frankly, I wouldn't mind THAT, at all.

It may sound foreign to us, but wasn't that the norm for Brits? Send the kid to boarding school when young, return (maybe) after many years of being away?

Not that I like the idea, I always thought it was a bit tough, but the kids learned self-reliance and confidence lacking in today's American youths.

Think of it - here, parents struggle with the costs of daycare which Harris is trying to ameliorate.
Imagine the cost of having your kids taken care of full time. It's not unlike the costs of college kids living on campus, and then there's tuition.

Think of it - here, parents struggle with the costs of daycare which Harris is trying to ameliorate.
Imagine the cost of having your kids taken care of full time. It's not unlike the costs of college kids living on campus, and then there's tuition.

One of the guys I grew up with is head of building maintenance at Georgetown Prep in Bethesda, its about 35 grand a school year for day students and 60+ thou for those that live there during the school year. That can change if the student doesn't go home over the normal holidays ( Thanksgiving, Christmas, springbreak ) when the school is closed.

Thats a pretty good nut each year for your sons HS...

It was that way when I grew up in the 60's- 70's. My friend Randle will tell stories, you just don't know who's kid he is talking about..
My father was friends with the priest that ran the golf course when I was growing up, they kept in contact until the priest died maybe ten years ago.
They would play golf and then walk over to Diedils bar and drink for hours..
