All of this instrumentation raises substantial cybersecurity concerns. If a driver frequently travels to a particular supermarket or bank or gun shop, who has access to the data? How long is it stored? How vulnerable are these systems to data breaches and fraud?

I agree with their headline: Nobody Wants $700 Electronic License Plates Because That's Stupid

Among other things:

You’d be mounting a $700 electronic device on the most vulnerable parts of your car, often right on your bumper. Want to turn a minor parking lot miscalculation into a $700 bill and the inability to legally drive your car around? Then get a Reviver Plate, dummy!

Further down it is mentioned that if its electronic, it can be hacked.

I have no doubt MD will go with this because there's not a whole lot of stupid ideas they don't want to implement, plus no doubt the owner of the company is a crony and MD legislators are getting their palms greased even as we speak.
