Direct TV SUCKS!

I need to vent....

I took off yesterday morning to get Direct TV installed between 8-11. Well 11 rolls around and still no Direct TV. I called them and they said that I scheduled it between 1-5, so that's when they will be there. (That isn't when I scheduled, but whatever.) I called work and told them that I wouldn't be in. Well keep in mind on top of all of this my phone is not working right. People can call and leave messages but I can't hear the phone ring or call out. So they're suppose to come out Friday to fix it. Anyhow....3:30 rolls around and still no Direct TV. I check my answering machine from my cell phone and I have three messages.

1st message was the D TV guy saying that it's 12:20 and he's in calvert and he needs directions to my place and leaves his cell.

2nd message was the D TV guy said that it's 12:45 and he can't locate my address on the map, I need to call him.

3rd message was the D TV place and she said that I need to call and reschedule because he can't find it on the map.

So, I called the guys cell phone and ask him that it's 3:30 is there anyway he can come because I'm just now getting his voicemail. He said no, he's in calvert (I have a funny feeling he was never in St. Mary's the whole day) and that he already turned it in as needed to be rescheduled.

So I had to use 9 hours of vacation for nothing. :tantrum and I have to wait again between 8-11 on Friday.

Don't you think a company like that should use MapQuest or something!

Just wanted to share my day. :peace:

I think the biggest problem is your phone. If you know it doesn't ring, you probably should have checked it more frequently.

Relax, and look at the long run. The service is excellent and the equipment performs faultlessly. We've had our system for at least 4 years and have zero complaints.

Yea, true. But they also had my cell phone number that I gave them when I originally made the appointment. But the Tech said he didn't have that number.

What I think made it worse was that he was completely rude on the phone too.

But wait, there's more...

fixed

I installed it myself, so I didn't have to deal with rude service people and waiting for people to show up. Aiming was fun though...point the dish...down the ladder and into the house to check signal strength...back up the ladder and reaim...repeat over and over and over again. But I did get the reception up to 99!

But like Railroad said, once it's set up, it works great. I only lose reception when a major storm cloud passes between the dish and the satellite...30 minutes max.

Me and the bodaciously beautiful BG have DirecTV and DirecWay, and think we've only lost service once int he last 6 months.. for all of about 5 minutes. Cable could never say that... or least I couldn't when I had cable..

:yeahthat:

CC and HO, if you are getting lost signals, it's either crappy equipment or a poor installation (which might include aiming through objects).

I'e had my service since Feb when we moved in and it's gone out once. Once in 5 months isn't bad at all. We had digital cable in Indian head and it was down one every couple of weeks.

Actually our service isn't all that bad, except during heavy cloudcover/rain, but I've heard somewhere that it people had problems with it if it was overly sunny for some reason....

I have had DirectTV for nearly 2 years and only lost service twice and both times were only for a few minutes.

I've had DirectTV for about 7 years, and yes it does go out when something big and gray ranges over the area, but it comes right back on when it passes!

I have 97% on the reception meter, and that might have something to do with it, maybe?

Cable TV?..................................:dosman:

I had problems with the installers also, but since then I have had great recption and only lost it once during a thunderstorm.

I had to take 2 days off also, the first time I waited all day and they didn't show up until 7:30 pm that night. They had a bad service call before me, and then they didn't have the right number of boxes so they had to come back the next day. I had 3 people the second day working on installing the boxes.

DirectTV is great. We do lose signal in heavy weather conditions. As an RF engineer, I can tell you that is normal for the frequencies that DirectTV operates. As for the loss of signal during sunny weather, the signal is dependent on both the up link and the down link ends and the probable cause was weather or something interfering with the signal on the up link.
