Directv billing issue from 2008

~~~~~~~
Recently, I upgraded my Directv equipment and sent back my old equipment. Directv sent me a bill for nearly $60.00 for old pay per view movies they said I didn't pay for in 2008. They said according to the data on the chip, these movies were never paid for. The thing is, I never had these boxes connected to any phone line and in order for me to purchase pay per view, I had to call them and pay by credit card. Hence, the next problem.... (what a hassle I might add), my credit card information only goes back 2 years online.
So I'm wondering, is there a Stature of Limitations on billing you for charges? I wouldn't be so difficult over this but I'm positive I paid these expenses. I cannot even access my directv bill from 2008. You know... it is only $60.00 but it is the principle of the thing. How daft of them to charge me 6 years later.
Several years ago I had the same thing happen. Our box wasn't actually connected yet we were still able to "purchase" PPV movies without them showing up on our account. Fast forward a few months later and somehow the movies ended up on our account. :lol:
I say the entire thing is :bs: myself. I had to call them to get the PPV movies because it always told me to do so whenever I tried to order a movie. I swear I paid for these things but it isn't looking very hopeful that I will win this battle with proof. It has been 6 years now and my bank wants $5.00 per month for each statement :lol: Shesh... that is almost the entire bill at $35.00. Directv is like "trust us you owe it." That is so reassuring. :rolleyes:
Ask DTV what month/year the movies were purchased. That will narrow down your search with your bank.
Just because they showed you viewed it on a certain day most likely has that expense on your next statement. I think the entire thing puts the customer at a disadvantage because records are not kept within hands reach after 3 years. They are not easy to review.
I am guessing you wish to remain a DTV Customer ..... I'd tell them I am switching to FiOS and pound sand if they do not removed such OLD Erroneous charges
:cheers:
Under contract so if I leave, I pay the fee to do so. Like I said, I am one hit with a small bill vs. what others have been hit with. The practice really makes little sense to me no matter how much they try to explain or justify it.
I am going to file a BBB report and also one to the Attorney General's office. In the meantime, I'm not going to bother myself with writing letters requesting 6 year old bank and bill statements. Ain't nobody got time for all that.
