Dirt fill

Does anyone know where you can find dirt fill, preferably free, in the area? Any help would be appreciated for me to finish up a long-standing lawn improvement project. Thanks!

I doubt you want fill dirt for a lawn improvement project. Fill dirt has rocks, sand, etc in it and plant life doesn't really grow well in it without a lot of work and soild amendments. You probably want top soil.

I just want dirt to fill in some puddle spots in my lawn and in a stonework project - I may transplant some sod on top of it, but mostly I just want something to fill some depressions, and I need a bit of it. Just figured if there was clean fill someplace for free I'd grab a wheelbarrow full. :)

You probably won't find it free. I bought 30 bags of topsoil at Lowes a few weeks ago and filled in. It's just over a buck a bag and easy to work with 40 lbs at a time.

Yeah, you don't want what is commonly refered to as "fill dirt" for that. Then you'd have dirt/mud spots in your lawn instead of depressions. You want top soil. Do like Oz said and just get some at Lowes. It's what? $2 a bag or something like that.

It was less than $1.50 per 40lb bag.
