"DALLAS, N.C. -- Investigators say a man has been charged with child abuse in Caldwell County for circumcising his two infant sons with a utility knife.

Authorities said 32-year-old Johnny Eric Marlowe, a self-admitted polygamist, fathered children with his legal wife and another woman who lives in their home."

Yes, but by someone trained to do it. They don't exactly sell the necessary supplies at Lowes.

I don't agree with what he did, but I don't see how it could be something he could be arrested for if we let others do it themselves for religious reasons.

Actually mohels are trained, and many are docs themselves. And they use medical implements, not utility knives.

Don't see where the state has a case against the guy. It's not practicing medicine without a license since a Jewish mohel is not required to be a licensd physician (used to be a butcher who supplied his own really sharp knife for the procedure). It's not cruelty unless there was a severe infection or phymosis (scarring) that resulted.

The guy will walk on the circumcisions. He might pay a fine for impregnating the non-wife of the group but even that isn't against the law.
