DNA frees man who spent almost 23 years in prison for rape - Yahoo! News

It's sad when years of people's lives are wasted for something they didn't even do...What took so long?

People being released after 20 and 30 years were convicted on the standards of the day. There was no reliable commodity-DNA testing then convictions were based on witness testimony and other forms of evidence. Nobody was wrong then and nobody should make more of this than it is....application of new science to old cases.

If an inocent man spent 23 years in jail then obviously somone was wrong. At the very least I would say that the woman who wrongly accused him of rape was wrong.

If anyone has a good reason to sue its this man. Lossing 23 years of your life has got to be worth a lot of money.

If DNA is accurate enough for releasing convicted criminals, why isn't it accurate enough to convict suspects who have been acquitted of the crime? If we can go back and retest convicted people, why can't we also go back and retest ones who were wrongfully found innocent? Seems fair to me.

Double jeopardy is expressly forbidden by the constitution. It is also effectively skirted all the time I might add.
