Do Amish merchants accept checks?

'Tis said that there's no such thing as a dumb question, but this one may come close.

We want to buy a bunch of lumber at an Amish sawmill - probably close to $1000 worth. We forgot to ask while we were there if they'd take a check, and of course we can't call the mill. So, does anyone know if we could expect them to take a check? I don't know we can get that much from an ATM.

Since the Amish won't do business on a Sunday, I suggest that between Friday evening and Saturday hours at our local banks, you get your hands on the greenbacks...

I know alot of the amish nursery's take checks. So it should be ok. But you might wanna have the cash to back it up, just in case
