Often I watch my cats twitch and murmur while they sleep, so I had to ask this question. The answer is rather interesting. (Posted here because it's equally applicable to dogs, and I figured it would be more widely seen.)

Nice to have it scientifically confirmed. We used to watch our dog sleep when we were kids and swore he was chasing rabbits in his dreams.

We laugh at Marci nearly every night as she lays on the couch between us and yipes and twitches herself through dreamland. No doubt chasing something..
