Do you feel sorry for people without faith?

On my way to church this morning, I passed many other churches and saw people coming and going. I thought it was wonderful for them to go to their respective chuches with their families.

Then I thought that I really feel sorry for people who do not go, they must have some void in their lives, because they do not know how good it feels.

Or maybe those non-goers have enough good in their lives that they do not feel the need to go. I'd rather cuddle with my kids on Sunday mornings.

I tried to identify, not compare, thus not conforming to a any one set standard of morality or virtue.

I believe in God, but I do not believe in churches. I was raised in the Jehovah's Witness faith and that was enough to cure me! I refuse to force so called religion on my children. They know about God, they know he created everything they see and they love him for it. They know he is the one that they will answer to if they do wrong. So please don't feel sorry for me. I feel just fine in my decision. I also agree with Socki, I would rather be here cuddling with my family and enjoying what God gave me then being stuck in a building for hours doing what other people think is right. JMHO. :howdy:

Why do you feel sorry for people who do not go  You choose to believe in something because it makes you feel better, and it makes you think there will be something better after this life. I live this life to the fullest, and when I go, I go. Although, I do look like I have faith because my wife forces me to go

You don't have to go to church to have faith. People pray all the time in their homes, on the way to/from work, just walking around shopping. To believe in God isn't something that can only be done IN church. However, church is the venue where people can praise and worship without worrying about being scorned by on-lookers. God doesn't care where or how you worship, as long as it IS in good faith and in His name.

I wasn't talking about church, I was talking about "Faith".
It was just a thought that hit me this morning on my way to church.

I remember when I was a kid and the "faith" I was taught. I had faith that I was going straight to Hell after eating that hot dog on Friday and that wasn't too comforting. I found nothing comforting about faith.

Odd...I was driving back from work this morning and was pitying the people on their way to church. My God wants me to sleep in at every given chance.
I don't need a bunch of other people to believe in what I believe in, make me pay for it and sing about it.

i guess for us it's the whole money thing with churches...i MUST tithe (read-give away) X-% of what I work hard for...and never seem to have enough anyways...

we saw what happens when the people aspect strikes in a church heirarchy... when elders of the church get unhappy with a young pastor who ministers to the younger set of people like himself, working, and raising kids...they send them to inner city NY to "found" a new church...and that pastor then looses a child to violence because of where he was "sent to do good things". That same church kicked a family out of a home they had rented from the church for 20 years, so it could tear the house down and create more parking which is never filled anyway. Nope...not for me anymore. :frown: Like Paso said....we thank God every time we are out and abut on horseback on a sunday...we thank him for the animals, for the family for the great company...for everything. And i donate enough of my money and time to be a tithe...just because it doesn't go into a church bank account doesn't mean it doesn't count.

Faith??

What's brick and mortar have to do with faith?

Going to church is fine. Having a place to go to when you need guidance or just some safety from the world is great, but a church is an institution, a business. and you can get your God just as easily in the car, a bar or in the woods, IMO.

There are some atheists that feel the same way about people with faith and how they feel really sorry for you that you think you need "faith" to fill a void you imagine.

I have faith that anyone given evening sitting in a smokey barroom that I will buy a million dollar keno ticket.

So then I can have whatever I need while I am breathing. Is this so much different than the myth of God?
