James 5:13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
17 Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.
19 My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, 20 remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.
This is the link to the commentary I use. I would suggest you read the commentary.Do you get prayer requests on-line? Do you really pray for them? When you put the prayer emoji in the comment line, is it a comment or did you really say the prayer? Did you really say a prayer or did you just make a mental note to put them on the prayer list?
Jesus told us not to advertise our prayer.... So, is putting prayer emojis online advertising that you pray? I get those prayer requests. It only takes a moment to pray. We don't have to be all flowery with God... after all, even though He is God and He controls time... He's God and He's a busy guy! I would bet God would love to say "yadda, yadda... get to what you want already". I don't do emoji stuff much, but I do type in "prayer said". I'm not trying to advertise.... I just want them to know I did pray for them. It helps to hear someone said a prayer for you. After all they asked.... right?
Is talking to God really out of our league? I mean... would I even be able to speak if I really met God?
One of the jobs I had back in the 90's was office manager of a company who worked for the Federal Government. I was instructed to invite the Vice President of the United States to a meeting. One of the women who worked for the Vice President was instructed to decline the invitation over the phone. When I took the call, she said "This is the Office of the Vice President"... I stood up! I physically got up out of my chair and came to a stance like the military "attention". I giggle when I think about it now.
I can only imagine what I will do when I meet Jesus and Our Father, God, in person! I won't be able to speak! John fell on his face when the Angel talked to him.... I can only imagine what I will do.... I hope I don't make a total fool of myself.
Prayer is important. I guess you can say.... if someone cares enough to pray for another person... they are showing God the person matters... the person is important to another... It's a witness.
Prayer isn't magical. It's not flowery. There is no reason to say "Lord" or "God" or Father" a certain number of times in each sentence. Prayer is talking to God. God is your Father too. He knows what you're going to say before you say it. If you're going to screw up... He knew it, and chuckled over it, before you did it. It's ok. He's your Father. He wants you to talk to Him. He's not Santa Claus. He is your Father. Talk to Him. You don't even have to speak out loud.... He can hear your heart!
If you have faith in God.... prayer is your tool! It's not magical.... It's just talking to your Father!
Do you talk to God?
