DoD "turf war"

Um, WTH?? Last I looked the SecDef was the head of DoD, not some freaking staffer.

A number of officials stepped down over the past week amid an investigation into leaked information. Dan Caldwell, one of Hegseth’s most trusted advisers, was escorted from the Pentagon last week after allegedly leaking information. Before this, he was placed on administrative leave over an “unauthorized disclosure.”

What is wrong with these people? Are they so used to slimy double-dealing and corruption that they just can't stop? They *must* run to some fake news org and make up a bunch of rumors about SecDef? And then the media "report" it without bothering to do even the slightest bit of checking; blast it all over the front page in big headlines; then a couple days later bury-print the correction/retraction.

And then call it "chaos" and try to make it sound like it's the Trump administration's fault these filthy aholes are lying leakers and rumor mongers.

I'm sickened by the fuss over Hegseth.

You know, in all of our country's existence, only a very small number of cabinet appointments were turned down by the Senate. I think I remember reading there have been NINE, total, and half of them were just one President's.

Yep. John Tyler.

Last one NOT approved was John Tower, under Bush 1, in 1989.

Hegseth was approved by a 51 -50 vote - with three Republicans (and every Democrat) voting against.
This is the narrowest vote so far, and the narrowest in YEARS, although SEVERAL of his other nominations were split right down party lines, with no Republicans defecting.

And I don't know why. The Dems have in recent years set themselves up to oppose ANYTHING Trump proposes.
A few got wide approval - Rubio was approved with unanimous consent. But I mean, they're blocking everything - judicial nominees and I guarantee should Trump get a SCOTUS appointment, they will totally oppose it - when it used to be that SCOTUS nominees typically were approved by both parties, easily.

But with Hegseth, it's not just the Democrats. Story is that Tom Cotton wanted the job, and he's the primary source of opposition.

The forces against him are searching for ANYTHING they can yank him with - they lost the vote but - they're just not giving up.

I wish to God the voters would just say ENOUGH! - there are bigger fish to fry. Stop the fights and do something dammit.

They're not going to do that, though. They'll bitch and moan to pollsters and on social media, but when it comes time for them to vote they'll fill the dot for the status quo. Democrats in particular are like this. 21% approval rating, but Democrat voters will STILL vote for their guy....the guy they don't approve of.

I too am surprised that they are going so full bore against Hegseth. So far I haven't seen him do anything worth all the hate. Unless they just don't like it that the military is the *military* now and not some taxpayer funded social experiment and money laundering scheme.

Rubio was approved with unanimous consent.

I'll be honest, this gave me pause. Anyone the swamp rats approve of makes me re-examine my opinion.

Oh they absolutely want a Democrat - I think the next round of primaries in the mid-terms is going to have a lot of bloodletting for the current members. Sadly, I think it means an even MORE left-leaning group.

But the disgruntlement is pretty simple, and I was listening to something yesterday - even Democrat voters are "WHY the F--- are you guys spinning your wheels over trans in women's sports and some gang member in jail? dammit, what about my health care - and inflation - and crime - and well everything else? Can you please focus on sht that actually matters? THIS is why I hate you guys but not as much as Republicans"

I think this sums it up nicely:
They are so used to slimy double-dealing and corruption that they just can't stop. They *must* run to some fake news org and make up a bunch of rumors about SecDef? Unfortunately Conservative voters are almost equally opposed by liberal America hating liberal Democrats.

We lucked out with Trump this time the Democrat candidate was such an idiot that even a few democrats had to vote Trump.

I see a time when if Conservatives want to have a say it will take a different box than the ballot box.
We are getting closer every day.

Power with Control
They are like heyenas, looking to pick off what they perceive as the weakest of the pack. Then, with blood in the air, they hope a panic will let them bring down larger game.

I hate to be a conspiracy theorist but I'll make an exception on Hegseth. I truly believe there is a cabal in the Pentagon that wants to get rid of Hegseth because he is a threat to the regime that obama/biden built. I believe they are running a complete subversive government. They are fomenting wars and skirmishes, funding radical anti-American governments and organizations, and arming their chosen people domestically and worldwide. obama intended to make this happen and Trump/Hegseth effed it all up. Had Trump not beaten hillary the subversion would have grown. Then came biden who remained in power as their useful idiot. Then Trump beat cackles. I fear this is our final shot at uncovering, prosecuting and sentencing the traitors in the military.

I know more than one flag appointment that was met with "How the hell did he/she get selected?"

I think Hegseth needs to be careful around his "friends" and "trusted advisors".
