Vonage? Are they any good?? I keep seeing the advertisements and wonder if their prices are really good and how the service is??
I've heard folks get it whose regular phone service was fine, but they were looking for a bargain with Vonage and were disappointed with it. But apparently there are places in St. Mary's where the underground phone lines are old and deteriorating and Verizon hasn't made any attempt to fix it. The people who have that problem have high praise for Vonage.

Have had Vonage for about 2 years and can't complain. We have the $14.99 plan since we don't really use our home phone. Instead, we use our cells. Just one thing to remember, though. If your internet is down, your phone line will be down, too. We've had 3-4 disabled periods over the course of the 2 years - the longest was about 2 days.
The cheapest plan is great. Just under $20.00 includes all taxes and fees & 500 minutes for anywhere in US and a few other places. Only calls you make count, not calls received. If you go over 500 minutes (don't see how) it's only $3.5 cents per min.I've had Vonage for over 3 years now. I highly recommend it, as long as you have good internet service. I go with the cheaper plan...only about $17/month after taxes.
They have great overseas rates, as well.

If your internet is unreliable, vonage can't work since it's an internet based service. My mom had Vonage and hated it. Her phone (and internet) would go out very often (basically every day).

I'm in PF and have Comcast for internet and TV. Who do you use?
I've been thinking about switching because Verizon is just absolutely insane with charges. It is very tempting but I want to be absolutely sure before I give up my trusty old landline...
We have Comcast "triple play" which includes phone. It has been extremely reliable. It even has a battery backup so the phone doesn't go down if power goes out.
If your internet connection is reliable, the phone service should be just as reliable.
