how long it takes to get from NAS Pax River to the Baltimore airport? My husband has to catch a flight out of there and he has never been. Also, would taking Rt. 4 be the fastest? Thanks!

I normally leave Lexington Park area 4 hours prior to departure time, gives me plenty of time to get there, turn in rental car and make it through security. Take rt4N to 301N to 3N to 97N - for me it is the fastest way.

Dpeends on the time of day. I do it 3-4 times a month. I allow 1.5 hours during normal time, 2 hours during rush hour. I usually go Rt4 to Rt2 to Rt 50W to I-97. Alternate is Rt4 to Rt301 to Rt3 to I-97. (more lights thru Bowie and Crofton)

I suggest cutting over from Rt. 2 to Rt. 50 via Rt. 424 that goes through Davidsonville. This allows you to avoid most of the traffic that’s closer to Annapolis and you avoid the traffic that’s normally on the 301 to 3 route. Once you get on 50, it 65mph all the way to I-97.

Rt. 4 then right onto Rt 2 then left on to Rt 424 straight through Davidsonville then, at the Park & Ride get on Rt 50 East then I-97 north. Stay on I-97 until the Rt. 176 exit (Dorsey Rd.).

How many miles does that add to the ride??

Will this add more time? My husbands flight leaves at 710p.m. and he can't leave the base until 330p.m. Thanks

Then he needs to go straight from the base to the airport. :yay:

Safe travels to your hubby!

It's about the same as going to 97 in Annapolis. It saves you from getting caught up in red lights and there are some really nice homes to look at.

I always go 4 to 301/3 to 97.. Takes about 1.5 - 1.75 hours.

I live in Chesapeake Beach so I can only speak on about 1/2 of the trip. From the Route 260/Rt 2 intersection, it takes approximately 1 hour to get to the parking garage (into the garage, car in a space).

Now, here is the strange thing. When I ask Google how to get to BWI, it says go out to 4, 301/3 then 97. But when I ask how to come home, it says 97 to Annapolis and then Rt 2.

It's a real tossup. If you get on 2 and are stuck behind a truck or a slow car, you'll go nuts. If you are on 3/301 and get stuck in red light hell, you'll go nuts. I think that one suggestion about back roads through Davidsonville might be interesting (though I haven't tried, and I think if you take that to 301 /3 you'll still have lights).

I don't know what this route does mileage wise but I've found that it is quicker than the other routes that have been suggested, mainly because it allows you to avoid the stop and go traffic associated with the stop lights on the other route. Plus the ride on 424 is very nice and relaxing. Lots of big homes.

Then turn tono Rt. 176 West, then about 1/4 mile, turn right
onto Aviation Boulevard. Take Aviation Boulevard for about 1 mile and you will see BWI Airport parking on both sides. BWI Airport shuttles take you from the parking lot to the main terminal.

ditto - of course the drive time will vary based on time of day (traffic) on both Rt 4 and 301.
