Need a room to live in southern Charles county?

We recently decided to open our home to people seeking a room to rent.

BUT...even though we have had an overwhelming response, the prospective room seeker discovers we are in *extreme* southern Charles county (25 minutes from LaPlata) at Swan Point and then decides it's too far.

Anyone else out there have this happen to them?

We didn't mind moving here when we bought our house...it is a beautiful area.

Just wondering if there is anything I can do to improve our chances of getting a renter.
Any and all suggestions would be appreciated! I have tried several roommate matching services, most of these people want to live up in D.C.
(They don't know what they are missing down here!)

Reduce the rent.... We live in the boon docks... Clements Maryland and My MIL never has an empty room.

Hmm. We are only asking 550 and I am afraid to go lower. The problem is that I keep getting calls from people who are either currently unemployed or just sound shady.
How do you screen your renters?

You might want to start with a credit check?
Then a background check if your really serious!! Not sure what else to tell you but good luck!!
