Ubi bene ibi patria
"Fed up with the orgy of mindless violence and sewer-mouthed profanity that passes these days for your average family film? Scared to take your kids to the flicks in case they have to sit through naked cartoon animals and rude words like "ass"? Fear not! A variety of parental and religious websites have sprung up, telling you exactly what offensive material you will encounter. Which means innocently stumbling into a screening of Cannibal Holocaust II with little Johnny will be a thing of the past. It also means that pretty much every film ever made apart from Stuart Little is a no-go. So, can you guess the films from their warnings?"

Every movie I've rented for my children does have themes, language or (what I would call) sensuality that is not appropriate for young children. I'm glad to have found screenit.com, it does go over every bit that parents might find offensive, so we can make the decisions for ourselves.

Jack Benny, Red Skelton, Burns and Allen, all great comedians never used risque or vulgar material. Human reaction to uncomfortable situations is to laugh. It is not because something is necessarily funny. George Carlin, Lenny Bruce, and a bunch came along and were bombing at clean comedy, so they got dirty.

The Three Stooges, Disney when Walt was alive, the westerns of the 40's and 50', early sci-fi, even war movies of WWII were all clean entertainment. You could depend on taking the family to the movies and not seeing something that was even questionable.

Most of what comes out of Hollywood is junk these days.

In My Opinion
I agree that almost all films have things in them that are not appropriate for children, many have things that are not appropriate for adults.

Yet, this is where the country has to go once they take God and any shred of morals out of the schools in fear of offending some little heathen that has gay parents.

Political correctness gone wild.

Most of the stars of these films are ne'er do wells ,drunks ,homosexuals and cowards ,not a veteran among them. It seems they have a rule against conservatives and real men. The women are mostly liberal trash, homosexuals and whores .

So what can you expect from the movies.? Hope the writers go onstrike for the next 20 years.

Long Post

1. Simpsons Movie. PG-13 for movie, TV14 for show. If you have ever seen one episode of the show, you should have known what the movie would be like.
2. Devil Wears Prada. PG-13. If you would have read the book before going to see the movie, you would have known that cleavage and easiness and derogatory language would be present.
3. Borat. R. Well, from the previews alone you should have known what you would be going to see. Also, if you had seen any of Sacha Cohen's routine before, you would have known. However, since Borat became mainstream , Cohen has stopped doing the character.
4. Brokeback Mountain. R. Never saw it but they let you know in the previews that it is about 2 gay cowboys. Are you really surprised that it is actually what the movie is centered around?
5. Anchorman. PG-13. Never saw it so can't comment. Don't like Will Ferrell.
6. Team America. R. Never saw it but it is a Matt Parker, Trey Stone creation. They made South Park. Why do you think a movie by them would be any different then what we already expect from them?
7. Something about Mary. R. Never saw it but just look at the tag line. Warning: The guys who did 'Dumb & Dumber' and 'Kingpin' bring you a love story. When the word "warning" is in the tag, it should serve as one.
8. Harry Potter. PG-13. Never saw it so I can't comment. I can't get over naming Cerberus, Fluffy.
9. Mean Girls. PG-13. Never saw it but they actually toned down the language some in order to get the rating. In the scene where Cady was asked if her "muffin was buttered", the line was originally going to be, "Is your cherry popped?" The same goes for the girl who "made out with a hot dog" this was going to be "masturbated with a hot dog". These were omitted in order for the film to gain a PG 13+ rating instead of a R.
10. Golden Compass. PG-13. Never saw it but you could tell by the previews that there would be a lot of violence.
11. Shrek. PG. You are joking right?
12. American Pie. R. I think I am one of the few people to have never seen this movie but the trailers should have served as a warning.
13. Atonement. R. Never saw it but it's based during the World War II era. Are you really surprised that there would be some war images?
14. Hairspray. PG. Well, it has been a Broadway play since a least 2002. The movie was adapted from the play. 5 years of warning and you are upset why?
15. Casino Royale. PG-13. It's a Bond flick. Need I say more?

So, long post short. It is your job as parents to gather information on what you will let your kids and yourself watch. Pay attention to previews, what critics say, and the ratings. That should give you a basic idea of what you are going to be seeing.

I got my information from The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) in case anyone was wondering.
