My Maltese has a 1/2 dollar size black spot on her back, I shaved it to get a closer look and it almost looks like blackheads the vet said it was acne never knew they could get this. He gave her anti-biotics and said put clearsil on it I have been putting peroxide on it it looks alittle better but not much. Any other suggestions the clearsil did nothing but dry out her skin she would not take the anti-biotics I tried everyting she will not take medicine.

When I took my puppy to the vet for the first time they told me he had puppy acne. They said it was very common in puppies. They gave me some kind of shampoo to use once a day on the area for two weeks. It is all cleared up now.

Well, I think it was stupid the vet gave you antibiotics. So many vets just hand out medicine for no reason. If he said it was just acne, I don't see a reason why the dog would need antibiotics...especially if it was just one little spot, and he said clearasil would work.

My dogs vet was going to give us antibiotics for Jaeger but instead prescribed the shampoo. The vet said if they would have been open sores than he would have to have antibiotics. He had the acne on his belly and personal area.

You're assuming the vet is a "he"....

THIS just doesn't sound like what you described. What vet was this? Regardless, I'd go somewhere else to get another opinion. It doesn't sound right to me.
