Every year, hundreds of people swim from Alcatraz Island to the San Francisco shore in the Alcatraz Invitational. This weekend, Jake the dog was among the more than 500 swimmers making the attempt. He was the only non-human to make the plunge. It is 1.2 miles from the infamous prison to shore.
