Dog Kenneling

We will be going out of town for about a week and will not be able to bring our pets. Usually when this happens, we have a few friends that all pet sit for each other but unfortunately we're all traveling around the same time.

I'm looking into pet kenneling. I don't think in-home pet sitting is for us, the idea of letting a stranger have access to my pets and my home for an entire week freaks me out, and I am afraid of leaving my pets totally unattended for most of the day..unless there is something I am overlooking, I don't believe I am interested in that.

I'm also not interested in the vet style kenneling in which my dogs would be put in a little kennel cage for most of the day in the back of a vet office and then locked up at night.

I'm currently looking at a few places: Countryside's Pet Paradise, Interlude Pet Resory, and ChessiePets. Each has really good reviews and I was hoping someone could also offer their personal opinions of the places or other places that they'd recommend (or not recommend).

We have plenty of time to check out each place and make sure our pets are comfortable but I understand that these places book up pretty far out in advance. Thanks for your help!

Love her!! She spends time with each and every dog.. she has an amazing wooded trail she walks them on ...

I take my GSD to her for swim therapy!!!

Sometimes it takes her part of the day to get back to you.... but she is busy with the dogs.

MMM, make sure that you go there to check the places out, without giving them a "Heads up" before hand. They should be willing to take you on a tour while you are there. Be careful of any place that won't do that.

We took our dogs to Interlude for almost 12 years; never anywhere else. Our cats, too. We have watched them expand their business over the years. It is a great kennel; the owners are wonderful, the staff is friendly, and we always felt relaxed, because we knew our pets were in great hands while we were gone. We never had one complaint in all those years. This will tell you alot...our dogs would get out of the car, and pull/drag us to the front door with tails wagging! I miss my dogs!:frown: Have a great trip!

I am getting ready to go out of town as well and we are going to use , Interlude Pet Resort in St.Leonard . It will be our first time boarding our dog but my in-laws love them.I am lucky because we are going to board our dog with our in-laws dog in the same room. They have always got along great and they can keep each other company.Make sure their shots are up to date and that they get the bordetella.

We have used Interlude for over 10 years. We love them. They have so many extras you can get for your dogs like 1 on 1 playtime, walks, pool time, etc. The staff is wonderful and seem to really enjoy their time with our dog. We have seen the owners out and about and they always recognize me, call me by my name and ask how my dog is by name. We only use them a few times a year so the fact that they can name me and my dog makes me feel like they really do care about their customers. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

So, I just wanted to thank you all again for your help and suggestions.

I haven't contacted the Pet Nanny yet because of a few things on her website but I haven't ruled her out. She has come highly recommended via pm.

I did surprise visit both Interlude and Chessie Pets and I am quite pleased with both places so far. The dogs are going to go stay the night at each place and try them out before our trip. Really the biggest differences between the two comes down to location and business hours. Chessie Pets is right next to us but books up very far out, has a reservation pre-pay policy and has kinda strange hours (like, we'd have to drop our dogs off the day before we leave for our trip and pay for an extra night, which I don't love) and Interlude is a good deal out of the way but they have very convenient hours and had no problem reserving our dates for without any concern of us needing to cancel or change. But at both places, I really liked the environment and the staff.

I'm really glad to have a few options in my back pocket just in case our friends can't watch the dogs.
