Did anyone see this ad?

The dog below (pic attached) was lost on transport this weekend. He was due to be gassed at a shelter in North Carolina last week, but was saved. He was being transported to his forever home in PA, but he escaped before he could get here.

He was lost at:

350 Heron Landing Way
Prince Frederick, MD 20678

The dog is friendly and was vaccinated this week but he is SCARED and does not know where he is so he is running from everyone that has spotted him. He is still in the area where he was originally lost and has been spotted several times this weekend but no one can catch him. Attempts to lure him with wet food and steak have been unsuccessful. However, we remain hopeful that something can be done, but TIME IS RUNNING OUT!

Do any of you have a trap that we could lay out for him? Even if you are an hour or two away, please help us! If you need compensation for gas money and time, we will help you with that! The people who own the property that he was lost on have said that they are willing to set the trap on their property to help save this dog. Unfortunately, I live 6 hours from there and I do not have any contacts in the area that he was lost in. When I called the police department they said that their animal control office has no traps.

The dog weighs approximately 40 lbs – he was severely underweight when we pulled him from the shelter - his furry coat disguises this well but he won’t survive very long out there on his own. We are afraid that a few more nights outside may cause death.

I need someone to go out there and look for this dog, set a trap, etc. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!

If you can help in any way, please contact me right away at thundersangels@yahoo.com

If you can't help, please at least cross-post! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

What in heck was a transport doing this FAR south? Especially from NC to PA?

Depends on who can help. I helped with a transport from GA to Conn. I met one transporter in Richmond, VA and met with the next transporter in Hagerstown, PA. Sometimes overnight stays are necessary. Depending on if they are picking up additional dogs along the way or dropping some off the route may not be just straight up the interstates.

GA to CT is understandable with an overnighter in the area, but NC to PA is usually done in a day. Hope they catch this poor baby before something bad happens. It is hard as heck trying to catch an escapee from a transport.

Maybe they switched drivers? Maybe they stopped to get another dog? Or drop off a dog? Who knows. It really doesn't matter how it happened.

You're right, it could be driven in one day but most of the legs are limited to about an 1 1/2 drive unless the people are willing to drive further. Maybe the dog escaped during a switch in drivers where there is usually a 10 or so minute break for the dogs to walk and drink. Hope they catch him soon. He looks like one of my dogs. At least keep lots of food available in the area so he keeps up his strength and stays in one place until they can figure out how to catch him.
