what does your vet have you do after you get a poop sample til you take it in to them to check? I just have it sitting out didn't know if it needed to be refrigerated or any of that. this is the first time I have had to take a sample to them.

It doesn't need to be refridgerated. I am almost 100% sure it won't spoil by leaving it out.

Leave it outside until you go or just pick up a new pile before you go to the vet.

I can't wait until your house gets carried away by a pack of wild Dung Beetles.

Haven't you had that dog for about a year now?

And no, I would not ask how to keep dog #### fresh or if I should refrigerate it.

I have some domesticated dung beetles if you don't feel like waiting.

I guess they are checking for doggy parasites or worms but not sure. How do they do the heartworm test? If its a blood test I bet bruno wont be a happy camper.

Heartworm test is done via blood sample. They will have to stick a vein..usually front leg on the large dog.

ok thanks catt. I bet this test is going to be expensive too. She is also goingn to get all of her shots updated too and we are also going to get her the meds for kennel cough so if we have to board her she is already checked safe for it. But I am hoping I can find someone to petsit if I ever go on another vacation.

Most vets want a fresh sample so they can see active parasite eggs or even the adult worm. If you can't get the sample right before you go to the vet, then refrigerate it. Double or triple bag it or put it in a cooler if you don't want to use your fridge.
