Dog Sitter Needed

Does anyone know of someone who Dog Sits in their home. I have a 10 month old Yellow Lab and we are going on a trip around the week of Easter. I HATE (it's harder on me than her probably) putting her in a kennel and thought maybe their is a family out there where an adult is home and would be willing to do this. Possibly someone with another lab that would like a playmate for 4 days or so. If anyone knows of someone please let me know! Also, if this route doesn't work can someone recommend a great kennel.

Thanks!

Sorry, can't sit for you! But LOVE dogs. I recommend Ridge Kennels in La Plata. Have never had a bad experience there and is one of the cleanest kennels I've seen. Our dog loves it there. 301-934-1916.

Interlude Kennels in St. Leonard is GREAT!!!

My mom's dogs and my grandmas dog all go there. My grandmas dog, Tanner, usually only went there when my grandma was in the hospital. When my grandma died Tanner had been in the kennel for a little over a week, and had stitches, we let them know that grandma had died and that we were looking for a place for tanner, and they said to leave tanner there until we could find him a GOOD home, and not to worry about it, cause there would be no charge. They were GREAT, they took Tanner to the vet to get his stitches out and everything. They also helped us find Tanner a home, as we knew noone that could take him. They ending up finding Tanner a home with an older couple that just LOVE tanner and call weekly to give my mom updates on Tanner. I feel this kennel definately went above and beyond the duties of a normal kennel and are just WONDERFUL people to work with.

:yay: My granddogs go there and my sister takes her dogs there. I took my Golden there a few times for grooming. Very nice people and very clean place.

I am in Waldorf. I wish I had family that would come stay at my house with her but unfortunatley we don't. Plus, she loves to play with other dogs and rarely gets the chance to.

My cousin does pet sitting. Her husband is a cop so you don't have to worry with her. Do you want the number?

Maybe I can help - I sent you a PM. If not, let me know what you find. I've done MD business searches in the past and found "we come to your home" pet sitters but they don't come to La Plata. I've looked at the kennels in SOMD but still take my pup up to Paradise for Pets (http://www.paradise4pets.com/background.html) in Beltsville (different from Pet Paradise in SOMD). I drive an hour and pay too much to take him there but the things you do for your pets.. I wish there were a kennel in SOMD that has the large, grassy outdoor areas and lets dogs play together like Paradise for Pets does... puppy loves it there.

Pet Paradise Kennels (SOMD) lets the dogs out 3X a day. They are only $20.00 per night. Group they don't do, safety reasons. It doesn't take much for a dog fight to start.

Just my 2 cents.

There's a guy on this site, in the Classifieds, that we use. He comes to our home once a day to let our dogs out to do their business in the yard.

We've had him by for almost two weeks now, and so far, we like him.

That's a big reason I bring my dog up to the Beltsville kennel. So many customers love that about the kennel that they've started "doggie daycare" services. Now you can bring your dog there during the day just so he/she can socialize with other dogs.

Thanks for all the responses. I was really looking more for someone who would do it at their home not come to mine. I am home all day and would rather have her with other people/dogs than home alone all day until someone came, KWIM? I talked to Marianne about it and that's an option. Also, I may look into Ridge in LaPlata to see how they look. I had looked up info to the one in Beltsville before and that is also an option since we pass that area on the way to an from.

Marianne- Do you know if the dogs are left outside or if they are brought in at the Beltsville one? I assume they have to be brought in but most of the pictures show them outisde?
