Dog Sitters?

I'm not looking for recommendations, just information.

Is it feasible for an active dog, or more suitable for older or calmer dogs? We always kennel our dog when needed but are in the midst of a bad experience so I'm looking for other alternatives.

Live-in or check-in?

I  my pet sitter :burning:lol, who comes and stays at my house to babysit my girls so they can still go outside and don't get lonesome.

Check-in. He does fine when left alone all day (if we go to Busch Gardens, for example, and leave in the morning and come back that night), but that's usually only once or twice a year.

It is great for active and older dogs. Your dog gets the comfort of
their own home, without all the stress of a kennel.

I would recommed it!

I use a pet sitter and she comes and stays here with bruno and my 2 cats. Bruno is active as she is only 2yrs old. During the day she mainly sleeps if i am not home and when I get home she clobbers me as if she hadn't seen me in a very long time even if i am only gone for 15min.

:yeahthat: We've tried both with our dog (3 yr old lab) and he definitely is happier being home with our pet sitter coming twice a day to hang out with him for a little while. I'll never kennel him again, he actually got bit while there. Not saying he didn't do anything to annoy the dog that bit him (he's very easily excitable around other dogs) but that one experience was enough for me to look for a great pet sitter.

Thanks for the input, guys.

i know a few people. Hell, if you're close enought to me, I could manage a drop by 3 or four times a day if you just need someone to play with him and let him in and out and do his business. I even shovel with Viccks under my nose. I also know a few others that will do it.

I would contract a pet sitter if I needed one. I believe it is in the best interest of most pets to remain in their home environment-jmho. I have several dogs as well as foster babies; also feral cats and wild things I feed-the chances of me finding just the right person is slim to none.

Pet Sitter

I always use a pet sitter, nothing against kennels but I dont like to add to their stress of me being gone and them in a strange place.

There was a sitter at Petsitters Unlimited Inc (in St Mary's County) that would spend the night at your home~ if she is still doing it, she is a real sweetheart. (301) 862-9400.
