Dog Sitting

Where can I find a good dog sitter? We would like to find someone who will do more than just visit a few times. Kind of like house sitting, except for pets. St. Mary's County. I looked at the classifieds but I didn't see anything like I mentioned. They are good dogs but they need attention and we can't take them with us on every trip we make. And we're not sure about kennels because I can't bear the idea of my little guys sitting in a cage all day.

Hi,

I'm new to the forum but I may be able to help you out with Dog Sitting. I have a friend who does this on the side and she doesn't have a set rate. I can do it as well.

Trails End. Barb is the most awesome person and she's professional with all of the qualifications. Plus she is well known with local vets and they recommend her too.

Shame my sis doesn't travel to SOMD-she's great-Bonded and Pet First Aid Certified too. Check w/your vet for references! :yay:

Thank you everyone, we will probably follow up on all these leads eventually. We hoped to find something this weekend but we are not going anywhere now. But it is a good idea to pursue for the future.

I have a friend who insists I get over the thing I have about boarding them in a kennel. I just think it is cruel. I talked to my vet about it but since they board dogs there they are not going to comment on it. Would you use a kennel if you were gone for more than several days?

We kennel my pup whenever we go away to destinations that don't allow pets. She loves it there. Spoiled little thing is allowed to run around with the owner more than she's in her pen. And when she's there she plays nice with other likesize pups. At home she hates all other dogs. :lmao:

Anybody know any prices for the dog sitters listed in previous posts? I'll be needing one around May/June.

Thanks.

Depending on where in St Mary's you live, but we always used Interlude Kennel in St Leonard (Calvert Co). They have alot of activities for the dogs outside so they aren't in all day long. You pay extra for it but it's better than being cooped up all day.

Trails End is the Best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Be sure to get someone bonded and insured.

I didn't read the whole thread before I posted, but said the same thing. It seems we have a few people on the forums that do this that are not licensed and bonded.
