My dog is a jack russle beagle mix... shes crazy... but anyways, and shes super sweet, like a little too sweet, like has to touch you constantly, but when it comes to clipping her toe nails (which really need to be done) she gets a little evil, i think its just a bluff, because when i did start doing it and she was growling and like biting me, she wasnt like biting hard, (looked like she would take a finger off, but she like, doesnt even leave a red mark) but she like twists and turns allllll over the place and even if you have someone hold her and someone trying to clip she like is impossible to do, same for her cleaning her ears, (which need to be done cause she itches them alot and they are red again with ear stuff in it) although with her ears she did get a little aggressive, and sometimes if you like pet her or bribe her with treats shes fine, but anyways, does this mean i need to take her to the vet to get her like knocked out into lala land to get this stuff done, or will a groomer muzzel her and deal with her? and how much $ would it cost just for toe nail clipping and ear cleaning?

Petco does nail toe nail clipping for $10, I deal with a similar situation....I had a wrestle my dog which my vet advised not to do and I end up either taking her to Petco or to the vet, seems easy. I can distract her and the groomer just clips. Takes about 5 minutes.

a 4h dog club does nail clipping at the charles county humane society when they have vaccination clinics. I'm part of their group, they know what their doing, all you have to say is that the dog is aggresive, and they can probably handle her... if they cant they will trll you so they dont have to wrestle the dog down. Might be a bloody nail or two... but they put the blood stop on it.
its $4, they do baths in the spring... with my dog who is a bit iffy on the nails i kinda do this thing where a put my leg on her neck and my knee over her face where she cant move, then i just do her nails... its hard to descibe how i do it...

I place a soft towel over 1 of my dogs head while she is on the floor when I trim her nails-seems to calm her.

Do you think the dog is going to like having its nails trimmed if they are quicked everytime its done? The dog will learn to associate the nail clippers and/or restraint with pain and I know the owner doesn't want that. I would recommend working on restraining the dog and giving it treats when it holds still and working up to handling the paws. That way the event of nail trimming is not as tramatic.

shes a little dog so shes not that hard to hold down, i think if had someone clip while i hold/bribe/pet/feed her treats or something, shed be fine, last time i did them, she was asleep so i just started like petting her paw and then i snuck the clippers in and did a few of them while i could (she was awake at that point but just laying there), but then she got bored after the front paws i guess and started growling and trying to pull away and squirm and all. shes never had a bad experience that i know of, weve had her since she was less then 8 weeks old.

I agree, work up to clipping her nails. Any time you have to wrestle her at this point would be a negative association. She will be much happier if you just work with her. Touch her legs/feet, then massage her feet, etc. Take it slow, she will get it eventually.
