Dog training classes.

I have a one year old lab/pit bull mix female dog. She's been having some aggression problems with strangers and other dogs. I used to walk her a lot and take her to the beach but as she has gotten older she growls and barks at strangers and strange dogs to the point that it is embarrassing and of course since she is part pit bull people are frightened. She also is extremely food aggressive, not with humans but with my parent's lab, which I think is a dominance issue. Is there any classes or trainers in the southern maryland area that specialize in this? She already knows how to sit, stay, give either of her paws on command, plays fetch and will walk on a leash so I think I need a more advanced course. I hate not being able to take her places because she loves to play and is good with other dogs once she realizes they are not a threat to her. Any suggestions or class recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

thanks ff for julies link. I might have to give her a call to see if she can help me some with my big princess she has some issues with guys and some ladies and she won't let anyone but me and sometimes some of the locals pet her on her head she also growls at most men and I need that worked on where she isn't afraid of everyone that walks in the door as I want to be able to have her with me this summer but if this continues on the way it is she won't be able to be with me as I can't take care of her and customers at the same time if i am having to try and catch her and leash her up and bring her behind the counter with me til the customer that she doesn't like leaves. But she did save me last year from 3 guys that were up to no good and bruno went after the guys as they were leaving and tried to attack all 3 of them.

Theres a lady at the Petco in California, her name is Pam, she was awesome with our two dogs, and she is very nice. We go to Petco just to see her now. She actually is working with (or just got over) agression towards other dogs with one of her dogs. One of my dogs (Shiba Inu) is an instigator to say the least, and we would test what her dog could handle with him, and now she is pretty good with him. Very nice and I know she does "basic training" and "clicker training" classes but I bet she also does private lessons (at Petco of course) or specialized for what you dog needs. Give them a call and talk to her, if the classes dont work out she can at least give you some tips to handle it alone. She is really good with that, and great with our dogs, I highly recommend her.

You need to get her under control before you have a lawsuit on your hands.

Although the website does not say it, I think the owner of Canine Mind moved away to care for her aging parents.

We are starting training classes tonight through parks and rec. Vegas needs to learn to share me a little more with hubby and stop being so stingy. She cathches on to things pretty quick but her attention span lasts about 5 seconds. So hopefully we will have some sucess.
