Doggie Treat Recipes, Anyone?

Does anyone have any dog treat recipes.
I'd like Jake & Woody to have something home-made, instead of store bought.

Thanks!

I have some recipes at home that I can post later. My dogs love anything with peanut butter in it so that's the kind I usually make IF I have time. I also have dog bone shaped cookie cutters.

I have quite a few on my old computer and scattered here and there. Give me awhile, and I'll post them.

Cody LOVES these, we crumble them and use them as training treats:

Peanut Butter Dog Treats:
These crumble easily, but dogs like them! Avoid using self-rising flour.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a cookie sheet
with cooking spray.

2 cups whole wheat flour (or combine part whole wheat, part all-purpose)
1 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup plain low-fat yogurt
1/2 cup skim milk

Mix all of the above. Sprinkle flour on a board or
countertop and gently roll the dough into an oblong,
about 4x10 inches. Cut this into 1/2-inch pieces, and
arrange on the cookie sheet. Bake for about 15-20
minutes or until the cookies are a light, golden
brown. Cool on a cake rack and store in an airtight
container (keep in the refrigerator or freezer for extra
freshness).

You can also roll the dough out with a rolling pin
(about 1/2 inch thick) and cut into shapes with a
cookie-cutter before baking. (For a crunchier cookie,
add 1 tablespoon baking powder to the flour before
adding the wet ingredients; I don't recommend the
crunchier version for training treats, because the
cookies crumble too easily).

And these:

Apple Cinnamon Drops

1 large apple
1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup of water
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup oatmeal
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/8 cup whole wheat flour

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 ° F.

Core, slice and mince the apple (use a food processor if you have one). In a large bowl, combine the minced apple bits, honey, water, cinnamon, and oatmeal. Gradually blend in the wheat flour, adding enough to form a stiff dough.

In a small bowl, add 1/8 cup wheat flour. Spoon the dough by rounded teaspoon onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart. Using the bottom of a glass dipped in the wheat flour (to prevent sticking), flatten each spoonful of dough into a circle. Adjust the size of the drops based on how big a treat you like to feed your dog.

Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and flip each cookie to brown evenly on both sides. Reduce oven temperature to 325 ° F. Return to oven and bake for an additional 30 minutes. Let cool overnight.

Most of the special treats I make are frozen. T & D absolutely go ape when I open the freezer door.

Number 1:
1 cup of non fat vanilla yogurt
1 cup of smooth natural peanut butter
1-2 bananas

Blend til creamy. Pour into small paper bathroom style cups. Freeze. Peel off the paper cup and yummy frozen treats.

Number 2:
Take the small paper bathroom style cups and spray lightly with non fat no stick spray.

Then layer - peanut butter, doggie kibbles (regular dog food), peanut butter, repeat a couple of times. Then stick a dog bone / biscuit half way out the top layer of peanut butter (makes a handle). Freeze and then peel off the paper cup if the treat doesn't just slide out.

I'm not thinking that I'd like the smell... If M can handle it, just make double next time

Ya, the smell can knock a buzzard off a sh*twagon all right, but we'll make extra next time.
