Doghouse bedding outside

Hi, just wondering what some people use for bedding in outside doghouses in the winter. I have a collie/sheltie who does not like to come in but we do make her sleep inside when its too cold. She's older and loves her doghouse. The last few years we have not had any fleas until I buy the hay for her house and seems like they come. I have an inside dog that likes to lay with her in the house during the day some. Other than blankets, any ideas? Thanks

Would THIS face lie?
I have heard the pine neetles work good....I was told that straw or hay has mites in it....That just what I heard...

I would never recommend hay. Bugs thrive in that! Like others have said, cedar shavings work the best! That is what we used with my dogs when I was growing up. In the winter time, we put a little extra in their houses and fluffed it up often :yay:

Cedar Shavings :yay: Don't use blankets, they'll get damp or wet and won't dry then the dog will be sleeping on a wet blanket.

Thanks so much. Will try the cedar shavings. She is half collie/half sheltie so the hair is incredible. Its like lambs wool underneath and very thick. Plus the shedding. So glad she likes it outside.
