Domestic Violence and the Animal Abuse Connection

No-Cost Seminar Provided by the Humane Society of Calvert County:

In recognition of Animal Cruelty Month, the Humane Society is partnering with the Calvert County Sheriff's Office, Calvert County Animal Control and the Calvert Crisis Intervention Center of the Calvert County Health Department to host a no-cost educational session on the connection between Domestic Violence and Animal Cruelty. Our featured speakers will be: Calvert County Animal Control Supervisor, Craig Dichter; Law Enforcement Liaison Victim Advocate, Phyllis R. Poole; Director of the Crisis Intervention Center, David Gale and a victim of domestic violence. This victim will share his/her experience of domestic violence and how it affected him/her and his/her animal(s).

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND YOUR PET Attendees will Learn:

• What are the laws against animal cruelty?
• What is the link between domestic violence and cruelty to animals?
• What resources are available to you and your pet?
