Donating Clothes

Tigerlily

Luvin Life !!!
I have three large black trash bags full of boys clothes that my son wore from age 6 to 12. I also have a smaller bag of girls and womens clothing. All the items have been washed and folded. Only clothes in decent to excellent condtion are in these bags.

I was too late to get them on the truck that left locally to me for the "Sandy Victims" so I am looking for an option that would provide the most benefit. I know I can drop them off at Vintage Values to be sold but I am wondering if there are any shelters or any other place where these items can be donated to for free to anyone in need. I don't want to place an ad as I am not going to deal with tons of calls, people coming to my home etc.

Also I have seen those clothing drop off dumpster looking places. Does anyone know where those items go.

Okie Dokey by me. Have you moved yet? If not I can drop them by this weekend. Deal is though what you don't want you find a home for OK?

My K had a huge bag too as I made them both go through everything they own. They were to put all the clothes to donate in the laundry room so I could wash them. I told them to put any that were torn, ripped etc in bags on the porch to go to the dump. Well Miss K did the opposite and put the good bag outside and the bad one in the laundry room.

Needless to say I went to the dump before I had finished all the clothes in the laundry room and her bag of good donation clothes ended up in the trash at the dump. She of course being almost 14 tried to tell me that someone else must have switched the bags on her.:cds:

Okay, K & M both have Tri County Auditions on Saturday. K's for orchestra is in La Plata but she takes a bus from Evergreen E.S. to and from. She is supposed to be back by 1:30pm I believe. After I drop her off I have to take M to Chopticon for his chorus audtion from 8:30- 10:30 am. I will give you a buzz after I pick up K and see if you are home. If not I can swing by on Sunday as I have a commitment at 5:30 in Great Mills So I could drop them off then.

P.S. Darn banks hope they get it done for you soon. Home buying & refinancing has turned into a complete nightmare in this country.

I should be home all weekend.

The banks can KMA right now. But, if they do not approve the price, I have a back up plan. I went to look at a house last weekend and like it just as much.

Since you brought this up - personally, they'd be the last place I'd take useable clothing. A lot of those bins never get sorted and the clothes are just shredded for making insulation, etc. When you think about a lot of those bins being left exposed to the weather, it makes sense. All well and good if it's something that isnt serviceable, but you might as well just take that sort of clothing to the recycling center with cans and bottles, etc.

Better to do what you're doing with clothes that can be used again, or find a local charity that will resell or distribute. Good to see you taking the time to get clothes where they'll be used/appreciated. :)

I know a family who recently moved across the country to care for their quadriplegic son - while at the hospital their home burnt to the ground. They have only what they packed in carry on bags to their names and round the clock care means they are unable to go shopping.

Momma could use some clothes if they are her size...
