Dont Bully My Breed Pit Bull Rescue and Education

hmmmmmm
I'm not going to read it as I know about the breed having pitty companions, but that was before having my kids of the two legged variety.

Looking through all the local rescue groups, sadly, most K9s are mixed with the bully breed. Not everyone is comfortable with a bull mix, namely my SO and now is time we are looking for a K9 family member. He wants to purchase from a breeder but I have convinced him to continue searching petfinder and that rescuing is the way to go. He is beginning to think not.

I know the pit trend started when pit fighting was big and an underground issue was coming to the surface. In the early 90s is when I started my efforts to make people aware and even have rescued two of my own. Now it's cool to have pit, even if you don't fight them, you see them on chains, big chains around their neck and as a leash, it's the thug life type that you see walking them. Many thug types don't care to understand the breed and a mean looking dog is just an accessory meant to intimidate.

Some people who have a bully breed are taking a risk. I know of a recent incident where a boy was playing with younger neighbor kids who forgot to close the gate to the back yard that housed to pits. The boy went to close the gates (on the outside of the fence) so the dogs didn't get out and was attacked by both dogs. The boy is fine, ended up with stitches, some nightmares, and a big fear of dogs.

Just wondering where you are on this. :howdy:

I wrote this first last night after searching pet finder, then found the other threads, where I posted the same.... I know I was repeating myself but I wanted to engage in a conversation about it all and nobody was responding.... Was just covering my bases, I got my answers :yay:
