I don't get it

"She's coming right at us"; she being the female helicopter pilot in the Potomac River plane crash.

"Looks like we picked the wrong week to be understaffed"! Air Traffic Controller had permission to go home early leaving the tower not fully staffed.

Considering there is a forumite that lost a BIL and friend in the crash I think it's in bad taste.
