"Nearly every story out there about the Oprah-bama campaign points out that celebrity endorsements probably don't translate to a massive swing in votes -- but Oprah isn't your average celebrity.
Right. So why are we seeing 8 million stories about celebrity endorsements, all of them pointing out that there's a big difference between an endorsement from an action movie star and a campaign tour starring perhaps the most admired and influential woman in the country?
Mentioning Oprah in the same breath as any other celebrity endorser is like saying there's no difference between having a former Division II quarterback on your flag football team and Tom Brady showing up and saying, "Mind if I take a few snaps?" It's a whole other league."
