Doom3

I played the original Doom in whatever long ago year that was. I couldn't think of anything I wanted for my anniversary, and then saw it in Walmart so told my wife to go ahead. (Doom, anniversary... irony --)

Anyway, I don't play games like this normally since all those years ago. I have to say this game rocks. It is very freaky, and there is nothing quite as entertaining as shooting lots of things up with a number of interesting weapons (oh, and a chainsaw :really:).

I feel like a kid at the arcade again except this game is really violent and has a definite spook factor. I wear surround headphones and the ambient noise factor, way things react, etc... is definitely neat. The things you shoot are pretty intelligent, too. They don't just come at you.

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this?

I still have my copy of the original Doom. :lmao: I think it was designed to run on a 386. :twitch:

I got one that could run on my current comp a little while back when I was feeling nostalgic. The graphics were so horrible especially with a modern vid card that I could hardly play. This new one has very smooth, high res graphics. The facial gestures, speech, reactions, etc... are all very well done. I suggest playing it in the dark. I have actually jumped two or three times when I got caught by unexpecting.

Doom 3 is awesome. :yay: I remember the first game, and how my sons would fight over who's turn it was to play because they had to share a computer.

Ug...the headaches they caused! :lmao:

I used to play Wolfenstein on a 386 and then reloaded it and played it on a Pentium 2 some time later. The game ran so fast that it was just about unplayable. Was actually pretty funny.

I've looked at Doom3, but I'm dead against paying 50 bucks for a game. Reviews have been mediocre and I've got enough to entertain me for now.

I loved Doom2, especially because you could build your own levels and play aginast your friends. :duel:
