I'd recommend watching one of these outstanding movies (I included plot descriptions found online as well)...

Match Point: "A winning combination of sex, mystery, brilliant writing, and first-rate acting which all adds up to one of the most erotic and exhilarating movies in years. Chris is being torn apart by his desire for two very different women. Marrying Chloe will bring him a life of wealth and success, but his true passion lies with his brother-in-law's fiancee, the sensuous but unpredictable Nola. Pulsing with tension, Match Point rides the dangerous line between ambition and obsession to an ending as surprising as it is chilling. With Scarlett Johansson, Emily Mortimer, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers."

Munich: "Inspired by real events, Steven Spielberg's Munich reveals the intense story of the secret Israeli squad assigned to hunt down and assassinate the eleven Palestinians believed to have planned the '70s Munich massacre of eleven Israeli athletes -- and the personal toll this mission of revenge has on the man who led it. With Eric Bana, Daniel Craig, and Geoffrey Rush."

The New World: "The legendary director of The Thin Red Line guides you on an adventure-filled, romantic journey of discovery with this acclaimed, Oscar-nominated epic set in the turbulent first days of the new America. Based on the true story, this sweeping saga tells the tale of Pocahontas, the impetuous Native American beauty whose relationship with Captain John Smith sets off a battle for a new nation. With Colin Farrell, Christopher Plummer, and Christian Bale."

Stay: "A suicidal college student and his doctor enter a twisted world of supernatural horror in Stay. Henry Lethem plans to commit suicide in three days, unless psychologist Sam Foster can stop him. Henry's been hearing disturbing voices and experiencing horrifying visions, but where does imagination end and reality begin? Sam suddenly finds he's losing his own grip on reality, as he, too, is thrust into a hellish place between life and death. With the help of his girlfriend, Sam races to discover the terrifying secret behind Henry's nightmare before it's too late in this chilling thriller which will have you on the edge of your seat. With Ewan McGregor, Naomi Watts, and Ryan Gosling."

Syriana: "Big oil means big money. Very big money. And this fact unleashes corruption which stretches from Houston to Washington D.C. to the Mideast -- and ensnares industrialists, oil field laborers, politicos, princes, spies, and terrorists in a deadly, deceptive web of move and countermove. The creative team behind Erin Brockovich, Ocean's Eleven, and Traffic deliver a lightning-paced, whip-smart thriller which grips your mind and nerves. With George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Jeffrey Wright."

Other (Good) Choices: Capote, The Matador, Running Scared.

These are all excellent movies I'd definitely recommend.

These are bad ones which definitely should be avoided...

Failure to Launch In a desperate attempt to push their 30-something son Tripp (Matthew McConaughey) out of the nest, a frustrated mother and father (Kathy Bates and Terry Bradshaw) hire a beautiful relationship "consultant" (Sarah Jessica Parker) with a patented plan to move him out of the house. But her tried-and-true tactics, which involve her posing as the girl of his dreams, don't always have the intended effect. Zooey Deschanel co-stars.

Good movie to veg to... Requires no brain and no effort.

Failure To Launch was decent, though I found the supporting characters (such as the parents played by Kathy Bates and Terry Bradshaw) to be way more interesting than the main lovers, played by Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker. They had zero chemistry.
